Image resolution checker: is your picture big enough for stock sites?
An image resolution checker measures width × height in pixels and converts it to megapixels. Drop a file below to compare it with Adobe Stock's 4 MP minimum and the limits of Freepik, 123RF and Dreamstime, and to see how much to upscale. It runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded.

1.5 MP · under Adobe's 4 MP minimum

13.5 MP · 9x the pixels, well above 4 MP
Or at 4x: 6000 × 4000 px · 24 MP
- 4 MP
- is Adobe Stock's minimum; the maximum is 100 MP and 45 MB (Adobe help, checked Oct 2, 2026)
- 6 MP
- is 123RF's minimum, about 2000 × 3000 px
- 2000 px
- is Freepik / Magnific's minimum per side, up to 10000 px and 80 MB
- 3 MP
- is Dreamstime's minimum under its 2023 terms (not confirmed for 2026)
What is a megapixel and how do you calculate it?
A megapixel (MP) is one million pixels. To get the megapixels of an image, multiply width by height in pixels and divide by 1,000,000: MP = width × height ÷ 1,000,000. A 2000 × 3000 px image is 6,000,000 pixels, so 6 MP.
The checker above does this for you, and also reads the file size. You can type a width and height instead of dropping a file, which is handy when you are planning an export or checking a generator's output size.

| 123RF | Yes | 6 MP (about 2000 × 3000 px) | No figure found |
| Dreamstime | Yes, with conditions (2023) | 3 MP | 70 MP |
| Shutterstock | No | 4 MP | 50 MB (JPEG) |

How many megapixels are common image sizes?
| Size (px) | Megapixels | Adobe 4 MP | 123RF 6 MP | Freepik 2000 px |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1024 × 1024 | 1.05 | No | No | No |
| 1536 × 1024 | 1.57 | No | No | No |
| 1920 × 1080 (Full HD) | 2.07 | No | No | No (1080 px short side) |
| 2048 × 2048 | 4.19 | Yes | No | Yes |
| 2000 × 3000 | 6.00 | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 3840 × 2160 (4K) | 8.29 | Yes | Yes | Yes |
A 1024 × 1024 image upscaled 2x becomes 2048 × 2048 (4.19 MP), enough for Adobe and Freepik. 123RF needs 3x (3072 × 3072, 9.4 MP). A 1536 × 1024 image at 2x is 3072 × 2048 (6.29 MP) and clears all three.
Is size enough? Why sharpness matters as much as megapixels
No. Reaching the minimum is only the first check. Adobe's quality pages list “out-of-focus or soft”, “heavily edited or over-sharpened” and “jagged edges or pixelated elements” as refusal reasons, and tell contributors to check images at 100% zoom. 123RF asks for no artifacting, noise or pixelization, and Freepik rejects flat, low-detail texturing.
On enlarging, Adobe's AI FAQ says: “Don't increase resolution in ways that degrade quality.” Shutterstock asks contributors not to upsize or stretch a JPEG beyond its original size, though it does not accept AI images anyway. Adobe's 2023 guide for AI images advised not to go beyond 6 to 8 megapixels; the 2026 technical pages allow up to 100 MP and don't repeat that cap, so aiming for a moderate size is the prudent choice.
How to fix an image that is too small for stock
- 1Measure itUse the checker above to see the pixels, megapixels and which sites you already meet.
- 2Read the scale it suggestsIt shows the upscale needed to reach the largest minimum among the AI-friendly sites, and the resulting size at 2x, 3x or 4x.
- 3Upscale without degrading qualityUse an upscaler that adds detail instead of stretching pixels. See how to upscale an image for Adobe Stock and Adobe Stock minimum resolution.
- 4Check the result at 100%Look for halos, plastic skin and noise before you submit. If it looks worse than the original, don't upload it.
- 5Re-measure and exportRun the final file through the checker again, export as JPEG in sRGB, and add title and keywords.
Upscale it in Stock Creatives
Stock Creatives is our product. It upscales your own files to 2x, 3x or up to 4x with its own upscaler; 3x gives nine times the pixels, comfortably above Adobe's 4 MP minimum even after a crop. It also writes a title, up to 49 keywords and the Adobe Stock CSV, which don't use credits. Plans are on the pricing page.

13.5 MP · 9x the pixels, well above 4 MP

Is my image uploaded to check its resolution?
No. The checker reads the file inside your browser to get its width, height and size. The image is never sent to a server, and closing the page keeps nothing. The same is true if you only type the width and height.
Frequently asked questions
How many megapixels does Adobe Stock require?+
At least 4 megapixels and at most 100 MP, with a 45 MB file limit (Adobe help, checked October 2, 2026). That is about 2000 × 2000 px at the minimum.
How do I calculate megapixels from pixels?+
Multiply width by height and divide by 1,000,000. For example, 3000 × 2000 = 6,000,000 pixels = 6 MP.
How many megapixels is 1920 × 1080?+
About 2.07 MP. That is below the minimum of Adobe Stock (4 MP), 123RF (6 MP) and Freepik (2000 px per side).
How many megapixels is 4K?+
A 3840 × 2160 image is about 8.29 MP, which clears Adobe's 4 MP and 123RF's 6 MP minimums. Resolution is only the first check: quality still counts.
What is the minimum resolution for Freepik and 123RF?+
Freepik / Magnific Contributor rejects files with a side under 2000 px or over 10000 px. 123RF asks for at least 6 MP, about 2000 × 3000 px.
Does meeting the minimum size guarantee acceptance?+
No. Reviewers also look at sharpness, artifacts, noise, labeling and similar submissions. Size is only one requirement.
How do I increase the resolution of an AI image for stock?+
Upscale it with a tool that adds detail instead of stretching pixels, check the result at 100%, and measure again. Adobe allows upscaling as long as it doesn't degrade quality.
Is this checker free and private?+
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so the image is never uploaded.
